Rhinoplasty, or nose surgery, is one of the most common plastic surgery procedures today. It can be performed for aesthetic reasons such as:
- Increasing or reducing the size of the nose
- Changing the shape of the tip or bridge
- Reducing or enlarging the nostrils
- Changing the angle between your nose and upper lip
Rhinoplasty may also be used for reconstructive reasons such as relieving breathing problems that were caused by a birth defect or injury. In either case, rhinoplasty , performed at Dr. Bucio’s Tijuana clinic, will enhance your appearance and improve your self confidence.
During your pre-surgical consultation, Dr. Bucio will thoroughly examine your nose, chin, and jaw to pinpoint problems. In some instances, he will suggest chin surgery as a supplement to rhinoplasty, because a small chin can make the nose appear larger.
Throughout the rhinoplasty procedure at Bucio Surgicenter in Tijuana, the patient is under a local anesthesia. Though you will be awake, you will be relaxed and insensitive to pain. Dr. Bucio will then make incisions inside the nostrils or at the base of the nose. This provides access to the cartilage and bone, which will be re-sculpted to the desired shape and size. To complete rhinoplasty, the skin will be replaced and any excess will be trimmed away. The procedure will last between one and three hours depending on the extent of the surgery.
After rhinoplasty, you will be required to wear a splint to help the bone and cartilage of the nose maintain their new shape. Temporary side effects include swelling, bruising, and discomfort, though each of these should subside within one to two weeks.
Dr. Bucio performs rhinoplasty at his Tijuana clinic, where strict safety and security measures are taken to provide you, the patient, with the utmost care and comfort.
